EUREKA STEM Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Initiatives in Wales

Abstract

The EUREKA STEM Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) educational programme emerges as a major catalyst in promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and cultivating inclusivity among children and young people, particularly underprivileged communities, including girls and women in Wales, England, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and Pakistan. This chapter delves into the background of robotics and AI educational initiatives based in Wales, but global facing, highlighting the civil influences, public impact, and societal changes brought by the EUREKA Robotics Centre since 2017. We strive to enhance the robotics and AI literacy across the horizon, impacting the world with Cardiff Metropolitan University EDGE (ethical, digital, global, and entrepreneurial) skills that develop confidence, resilience, and frontier experiences in universities and through to employment. It also highlights the collaborative efforts with global stakeholders and reflects on the implications for women's participation in STEM fields. By examining these facets, this chapter aims to emphasise the transformative exertions in shaping a more equitable and inclusive future for a global Wales.
