Abstract
In the past, human beings have created, manufactured, and used textile products in their daily practical and expressive lives. Textile products are generally functional but can also be used to decorate, represent social status, and message aesthetic values. Throughout life, there is hardly a time when we are not wearing, using, or touching a textile product, and today, the global application of textile products is vast and highly diverse, with many future and unforeseen applications. This chapter will review and discuss the main applications of textile products, including fashion and practical apparel, interior and household textiles, specialist technical textile products, and textile art. Examples of different types of textile production industries and future technological trends will be included, with a case study on Bedouin women weavers and contemporary textile design students, to compare traditional hand and modern, digitally produced textiles, and their applications.
