Abstract

In a review of research across the football codes, Reilly and Gilbourne (2003) drew attention to a dearth of literature in Rugby Football League. Soccer and rugby union still continue to dominate performance analysis research in the football codes with the exception of work from Eaves and Broad (2007), Eaves and Evers (2007)and Eaves et al. (2008). The current research stems from performance analysis support for a rugby league side and the desire for profiles of performances that could be evaluated taking into account opposition quality.
