A Combination Technique for Requirement Interdependency in Prioritization: A Case Study of Fall Scenario

Abstract

Requirement Prioritization (RP) addresses challenges in projects with many requirements by identifying and selecting the most critical ones based on priority values or ranks, typically determined by stakeholders, practitioners, or both, depending on the technique used. In addition to RP, understanding Requirement Interdependencies (RI) is essential, as it reflects how requirements influence one another. However, many existing RP techniques tend to overlook RI due to its complexity, despite its significant impact on identifying key requirements that contribute to project success. This study presents a new technique that enhances the RP process by incorporating RI. It also explores two conventional RP techniques, Accessibility Governance Matrix (AGM) and Rank Ordering, that contribute to improving prioritization accuracy. The proposed technique integrates RI into the prioritization workflow and demonstrates its effectiveness through comparative results. The ACube project data is used for the experiment and evaluation of the proposed technique. The results show that the proposed technique can achieve an accuracy of 82.21%.
