Abstract

Viewers tend to focus into specific Regions of Interest (RoI) in an image, which is driven by the task or the low level information of the image/video. Therefore, visual attention is one of the major aspects to understand the overall Quality of Experience (QoE), user perception and interaction. For instance, visual attention cues can be used in spatial navigation (as one of the most prominent FTV scenarios). This article investigates how 3D visual attention can be used for better interaction, quality assessment and processing of 3D image/video. Furthermore, open challenges in integrating visual attention for 3D interaction is also discussed.
