265 Empowering teachers in Wales to deliver CPR in the primary school curriculum

Abstract

Teaching schoolchildren cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills (CPR) is a key strategy to improve out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survival.1 Challenges exist regarding teachers’ capacity (e.g. time, resources, skills/confidence) to effectively implement this type of initiative.2 This poster reports: (i) The development, in Wales, of an innovative, collaboratively designed PRIMARY SCHOOL CPR RESOURCE. (ii) Reports SURVEY findings regarding challenges to address when empowering teachers to teach CPR. (iii)Outlines work in Wales to EMPOWER teachers to deliver CPR awareness training to ACTIVATE children to CASCADE their CPR knowledge and skills and GROW a nation of lifesavers (Change Cycle).
