Kerry joined Cardiff Met as an Associate Tutor in 2020 and has been leading the PGCE MFL Secondary students since 2021. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Kerry studied European Studies with French and German at Bath University before completing her PGCE in languages at Homerton College Cambridge in 1997. She has experience working in schools in France and Germany and worked in Berlin, teaching English as a Foreign Language amongst other roles. She has an MA in Education (Wales) and her dissertation focussed on ‘MFL students' perceptions of decolonising the MFL curriculum’.
In addition to her work at Cardiff Met, she works at Cardiff University teaching German on the Languages for All programme and has taught German language on the undergraduate programme too. She is a qualified examiner for the Goethe Insitute in level A1.
Kerry is an external examiner for the PGCE Secondary Modern Languages at Warwick University. Kerry sits on the Global Futures Wales Steering Group which shapes language policy in Wales and also on the Language Trends Wales Advisory Panel.
Kerry’s research interests include ‘decolonising the secondary languages curriculum’; ‘embedding research and enquiry in schools’ and ‘mentoring’.
