Research interests
John is an academic who works across research and teaching in applied exercise physiology and innovative practice in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
From a research perspective John has over 45 peer reviewed publications across 1) monitoring and acute responses to exercise across the lifespan, and 2) methods and techniques to monitor muscle function. His worked is supported by large scale external funding and well as leading a diverse group of excellent doctoral researchers.
John is heavily involved in EDI efforts with sport and academia. He has created several national and international level initiatives, provided over 30 EDI training sessions nationally, and worked with multiple NGBs. Moreover, John is actively involved in EDI work at University and School level e.g. Race Equality Charter writing group, University EDI committee, School Athena Swan group.
