Research interests

David has published widely in both professional and peer-reviewed academic journals on the subjects of economic development, self-employment, entrepreneurship and public policy. He has served on editorial boards and been a reviewer for many of the leading journals in his field. Highlights include directing the Welsh contribution to the world’s largest study of entrepreneurship, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, for eight years, as well as attracting significant funding from public and private sector organisations to conduct applied research and consultancy over the last twenty-five years. He has a wide and active international network of collaborators, and his current research involves examining outcomes of both public and private-sector interventions in the labour market in Wales.
