Personal profile
Research interests
I am professor in Sports Ethics and my research covers a range of important ethical issues in sport including fairness, moral responsibility, integrity and gambling and alcohol problems. I am also interested in mental health issues in sport, especially the relationship between sport and addiction from a philosophy of mind perspective. I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist and have worked in the voluntary sector as an addiction’s counsellor. I am former president of the International Association of the Philosophy of Sport and was awarded their distinguished scholar prize in 2017. I have published extensively in books and peer reviewed journals in both English and Welsh and played an important role in developing the sport based Welsh medium provision in the Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences.
