Research interests
Aisling Pigott is a Registerd Dietitian with a varied background across NHS practice, freelance and media settings. Aisling's research interests spanning paediatrics, diabetes, behaviour change, eating disorder prevention, implementation science and healthcare transformation within long-term conditions.
Aisling's research has focused on the prevention of eating disorders in children and young people with Type 1 Diabetes, including the adaptation and co-production of complex interventions within paediatric diabetes services.
She has a strong interest in evidence translation, stakeholder engagement and psychologically informed approaches to healthcare, alongside wider interests in interprofessional education, workforce development and multidisciplinary models of care.
Her research draws on qualitative methodologies and intervention science and aims to support the development of scalable, evidence-informed interventions that can be integrated into routine healthcare practice.
Aisling’s application of research to practice includes chairing the Type 1 Diabetes and Disordered Eating Network (T1DDEN) within the Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network (CYPDN), Non-Executive Director of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and member of the BDA Professional Committee. Aisling is a prominant media spokesperson for the BDA, regularly contributing to TV, Radio and Print Media across UK and international settings.
