CREWCOM researchers are concerned with investigating the ways in which Creative Writing can be harnessed to improve the health and wellbeing of distinct communities and populations. Creative Writing researchers in this group will have experience in or an interest in working in varied settings such as schools, prisons, hospitals, clinics, care homes, therapeutic environments, synthesising theory, and practice to enhance the lives of participants. Our researchers also evaluate creative writing and arts interventions and make recommendations on local, national, and international policy and practice in broader Arts and Health fora.
CREWCOM research is driven by:
- The Well-being of Future Generations Act goals for ‘A Wales of Cohesive Communities and ‘A Healthier Wales’.
- Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Strategy to ‘to develop its reputation through diversifying income, maintaining volume, and focusing on long-term staff development and support, including a focus on systematically increasing research output quality, value and impact of research and innovation through the Global Academies.
- CSESP Research Strategy’s aims to: (i) To grow the volume of research and innovation income while maintaining the targeted percentage contribution; (ii) To ensure we have the relevant structures and processes in place to optimise all research and innovation opportunity.
We aim to combine research excellence from Cardiff Metropolitan University with innovation expertise from external partners to create impactful positive change through the use of Creative Writing.
