CCRC celebrates an eclectic mix of research members who come together to explore cutting edge research in artificial intelligence (AI), human computer interaction (HCI) and data science. By harnessing these fields in innovative and creative ways, CCRC delivers transformative solutions, cutting-edge research, and expert consultancy services that can drive change across a range of industries – including software engineering, education, business, healthcare, and gaming, among others.
CCRC is structured into five key research themes.
- Games Group/Theme
This theme explores games as complex cultural, social, and technological artifacts. It examines how games are designed, developed, played, and understood, considering their impact on human behaviour, identity, and society.
- Educational Technology Group/Theme
This theme focuses on the design, development, evaluation, and impact of technology in educational settings. It covers both the use of technology to enhance existing educational experiences and the creation of innovative tools for new forms of learning and teaching.
- Software Engineering & AI Group/Theme
This theme examines the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, focusing on how AI can enhance the design, development, maintenance, and optimisation of software systems.
- AI & Data Group/Theme
This theme investigates how advanced AI algorithms and data-driven approaches can transform various industries and research. This theme also covers cutting edge research in spreadsheet productivity and risk assessment.
- Health & Technology Group/Theme
This theme studies the dynamic relationship between health and technology, focusing on how digital innovations can enhance healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and overall physical and mental well-being.
Facilities: CCRC is equipped with a dedicated laboratory designed for usability, accessibility, and inclusivity studies, as well as cutting-edge development.
