Description

The Elsie Widdowson Lecture is a prestigious invited lecture recognising significant contribution and emerging leadership within nutrition and dietetics. The lecture provides an opportunity to showcase innovation, research, professional leadership and impact on practice to a national professional audience.

My lecture focused on the intersection of diabetes care, eating disorder prevention and behaviour change, highlighting the importance of early intervention, co-production and psychologically informed approaches within paediatric diabetes services. Drawing on clinical practice, national leadership and doctoral research, the lecture explored challenges in translating evidence into practice.

The lecture also reflected on wider themes of healthcare transformation, professional identity and the importance of creating compassionate, evidence-informed systems that support both physical and psychological health.
