Crynodeb

Change and conflict are influential across individual, intra-group, inter-group, and organizational levels. In this chapter we draw on one of the most prominent psychosocial paradigms of intra-and inter-group relations to emanate from organizational psychology to develop our understanding of change and conflict management. That is, the social identity approach. Theoretically and practically, the social identity approach has much to contribute to the continually changing landscape of elite sport (see, for an example, Slater, Coffee, Barker, & Evans, 2014). Prior to reviewing social identity literature we first introduce the growing salience of change and conflict management in elite sport.
