Understanding the change process: Valuing what it is that coaches do: A commentary

From a personal viewpoint, reading more work that engages with a sociology of coaching isgratifying. Having tried over the years to present an ever nuanced empirically-basedargument that coaching really is about social relations tied to notions of power andacquiescence, it is good to see similar work being produced and given a stage in journalssuch as the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching. Tania Cassidy, of course,has already made a considerable contribution in this area, so it was no surprise to see her takethis welcome critical stance.
