Crynodeb
Alma Harris presents some findings from a research project which explored the characteristics of schools which were demonstrating raised levels of pupil achievement. All the schools were located in city contexts. The article contends that a school's commitment to staff development and continuous improvement are important pre-requisites of enhanced pupil achievement. It further argues that there are common and identifiable components of sustained improvement. Certain collaborative processes are conducive to this effect.
