Crynodeb
Funded by Medr and developed through QAA's Micro-credentials Special Interest Group (MIC.SIG) Chaired by Steven Osborne with tertiary providers across Wales and Northern Ireland, this framework sets out a shared definition and 12 key practices for the design, delivery, review and quality assurance of micro-credentials.
The framework is non-regulatory. It's intended as a practical reference for providers developing micro-credential provision, and as a reference point for external reviewers exploring a provider's approach to micro-credential quality and standards.
It builds on the QAA Characteristics Statement for Micro-credentials and aligns with the definitions used by UNESCO and the Council of the EU's 2022 recommendation on micro-credentials, supporting compatibility with cross-border micro-credential development between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
