Crynodeb

This chapter explores the emergence and impact of Pride celebrations in small towns and rural areas, challenging the notion that LGBTQ+ culture is predominantly urban. It uses queer rurality theory to highlight the significance of these regional Prides, which provide essential support and visibility to queer individuals outside metropolitan areas. These events foster a sense of belonging and community, countering the isolation often experienced in rural settings. The chapter also addresses the challenges faced by organizers, such as resistance from local communities, but ultimately celebrates the resilience and positive impact of small-town Prides on their participants and broader society.
