The aim of this research was to explore the impact that the BRCA one and two genetic mutations have on a woman’s perceptions of motherhood. There have been attempts to understand the impact that the mutations have on overall health decisions but there is a lack of research specific to the impact on motherhood. 20 women aged 18–40 with BRAC 1 or 2 gene were interviewed. Data was analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Two themes were identified. This study found that the BRCA diagnosis had led to women rewriting their preexisting views of motherhood and accelerating family planning timelines
